For this campaign the models/dancers would have to follow a strict mood board that the act director and the advertisement company wanted. The idea, is for the participants to look like they are landing on certain parts of the world. At the casting to achieve this was going to prove challenging because the models/dancers, would have to jump off a spring board in the air in certain positions. While the photographer had to capture the shot, as well as the model/dancers looking graceful, and then landing safely on a crash mat. Believe me when i say this is easier said than done…..

I had the fortunate job of demonstrating the movement and exact positions that was required, So that had me jumping off the spring board into the air, striking a pose and onto a carsh mat over 70 times! After the casting was finished. I was called by the art director the following day to say that the client wanted for me to the main feature of this campaign.

So on this job you can see my work from a movement direction point of view as well as seeing me in the brochure which is now all HSBC bank’s in the UK. BONUS!! LOL.

Next time your in a HSBC bank, you can pick one and say… “I kinda of know him, i read his blog on this” LOL

I was recently booked as creative director / choreographer  for “Britain’s got talent” 2012 television commercial. The commercial featured the four judges of the show. Simon Cowell, David Walliam, Amanda Holden & Alesha Dixon. The commercial was a fusion of the four judges preparing for the up coming show. I worked on creatively directing & choreographing the Alesha Dixon scene with featured dancers.

Action

I was appointed to choreograph the Alesha Dixon scene. We see her placed in a cuban salsa bar. She has a dance moment in the middle of the dance floor with Accelerate featured dancer Micheal Cortez before she is Called away. The scene also featured 20 Accelerate dancers which were also creatively directed also by me.

Accelerate dancers also featured in the David Walliam & Amanda Holden scene’s for the commercial. The commercial will be aired on ITV1.  I have posted it here so you can see the results.

Petronas Twin Towers’ SkyBridge. 19th March 2012.

K. Knight was the creative director for one of the most spectacular fashion shows in the capital city of Malaysia last night. Spectacular in the sense that it was held 175 meters above street level and on quite a narrow 58-meter long SkyBridge connecting both the Petronas twin towers. It was also the first time in the history of the Twin towers that an international fashion event was permitted on the 2-storey SkyBridge. That in itself was the main attraction.

The J Spring Fashion Show showcased the most spectacular 4 season collections by the world’s notable fashion houses, including British fashion leader Paul Costelloe, Dutch celebrity designer Addy van den Krommenacker, Portuguese fashion talent Susana Bettencourt, New York Fashion Week and leading luxurious swimwear brands Gottex and Gideon Oberson, Spanish sensation Chula, Australian fashion brand Katelyn Aslett, India Fashion Week designer Smriti Gupta, and Berlin Fashion Week brand Maicco.

Being a creative director for a host of fashion shows, I am always interested in taking whatever i am involved in to the next level. At the moment this has to be a fashion show i can really be proud to have been a part of. This show was truly an amazing adventure from the beginning to the end and beyond. Until next time.

1. Ask about seats at the gate
Failing the ability to choose great seats before your flight, try again at the gate.
If the flight is not full, the gate agent may be able to see an empty row, or put you in a “window or aisle” configuration that reduces the likelihood of having someone sit in the middle seat,
thereby getting you a seat and a half, at least.

2. Take care of your health
Hydration: If you think hydration is a concern on a cross-country flight, try tripling or quadrupling your time in the air; you might as well spend 15 hours lying on the desert floor. Which is a good comparison, and you should stock up and behave accordingly.

4. Board relatively rested
Don’t count on a long-haul flight as a good place to catch up on sleep — it’s not.
As attractive and intuitive as it seems to get on a long-haul flight extremely tired,
hoping to sleep the whole way, you are in for a world of hurt if you can’t sleep for any reason.
You will be on the plane long enough to catch a few winks even if you are somewhat rested,
and my advice is to take it when it comes; if your eyes start to droop, get out the eye covers and earplugs, and go with it. If you throw away a solid two-hour nap on a few extra rounds of Angry Birds, you might well be angry at yourself later.

5. Escape
You will want to have a rock-solid plan for frittering away several hours of your flight, and I don’t mean working; staring at spreadsheets and writing proposals may burn up hours, but it does not make them vanish. You want these hours to disappear almost without a trace. Think headphones and Films, Films, Films!!!!
Getting a lot of work done is fine — rarely do you have 15 consecutive hours without a phone or e-mail, so I encourage bringing some work — but work will fail you when you get to the brutal middle hours of this ordeal. Headphones and films; don’t stray from this.

The fashion show will feature 10 top designers collections from
England, Ireland, Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, Georgia,
US, Hong Kong, India, and Malaysia.

The guest list includes country ambassadors,
brand managers, fashion designers,
and the international press.

I was asked how does it feel being the first ever creative director
to choreograph a show in Tower bridge, London
and now the Petronas, Kuala-Lumpur.

I just say “being a creative director i love new challenges
and pushing the boundaries on creativity.”

The commercial had us following each of the judges as they were getting on with their “day jobs”: Simon Cowell in his swanky LA office, David Walliams shooting a period drama, Amanda Holden getting ready to hit a West End stage & Alesha Dixon on the dancefloor of a Cuban  salsa bar.  Each judge is then called to the duty of being a judge to find the finest talent for latest cycle of BGT.

My role was to choreograph the hot, steamy salsa bar dancefloor scene with Alesha Dixon. Having been on Strictly Come Dancing, Alesha was able to pick up the choreography I had set for her and her male dance partner. The routine was what you would typically see in a cool salsa club. Fiery, sexy, seductive with lots of flair & energy.  Being an avid salsa dancer, to choreograph such a routine was fantastic fun and I was very happy with the end result.

The other scenes featured dancers from Accelerate which I cast for the commercial as I knew who would be best suited for each set up.
The end result of the commercial is a dynamic, film “like feel” very sharp and slick.

 
I instructed Harry on dance moves from the iconic
scene in which John Travolta takes the dance floor,
for what has to be one of the most memorable dance solos on screen.

I adapted the key signature moves and taught Harry for his sketch.
He picked up the moves really well, while adding his own flair and
absolutely nailed it!

It was great to be on set and I had a fantastic day!
